California
I can now cross off another goal from my 2007 ‘to do’ list; I finally made my first trek to California. My friend, Christie, asked me a few weeks ago to join her to visit some friends from Michigan. Of course, without hesitation, I said YES!
We stayed with her friends, Chris and Shawn, who live in Irvine, located in Orange County in Southern California. They were absolutely wonderful hosts; driving us all over the place in their little VW Beetle (sometimes it is good to be tall, so you don’t get stuck in the backseat…sorry Shawn and Christie!!)
We arrived late Friday evening and spent the night talking and drinking Shawn’s fabulous Mojitos.
On Saturday, we went whale watching out on the Pacific Ocean. It was a beautiful day to be on the water…not a cloud in the sky! However, I don’t think any of us were prepared for the amount of sun, since we all left the boat with a slightly reddish glow! We did see one grey whale and a number of sea lions.
Sunday, we made the one hour journey to San Diego to visit another friend, Jimmy. After a quick tour of his new home, we headed for La Jolla Beach for lunch and window-shopping. We spent the remainder of the afternoon walking barefoot along the beach.
Monday, the last day of our little holiday, Chris, Christie, and I drove to Long Beach. (We got a little lost on the journey, so our 30-minute drive turned into about 2 hours!) We did have lunch on the Queen Mary ship (a cruise ship similar to the Titanic.)
That was pretty much the extent of my little vacation; here are some photos…..
