I'm still here!
Ok…so I have been neglecting my blog as of late…but in my defense, I have not really done anything exciting. And I know, I thought it was going to be the summer of fun and excitement, but somehow it turned in to work eat work sleep work walk work work work…..get the picture! One of the projects I have been working on, is a medical office building in Covington (southeast of Seattle.) The structural steel was completed last week (I know…not very exciting to most of you, but pretty cool for me!)
Last weekend, I babysat Campbelle and Christian, while Jill and Leif finished the move into their new home. We hung out at the zoo most of Saturday afternoon and only had one minor “accident.” As you can see, Campbelle was in charge of the camera!
I did partake in a couple of cool things last week. On Thursday, Lois asked me to join her for An Evening of Wine event for the Pacific Northwest Research Institute.
PNRI was established in 1956 by Dr. William B. Hutchinson, Sr., as the first private non-profit biomedical and clinical research institute. Today, the Institute is committed to the prevention and cure of diabetes.
It was a great night, starting out with a limo ride to the New Castle Country Club, tasting wine while overlooking both Seattle and Bellevue, and a fantastic 4 course meal (and more wine!) There was also a silent auction which raised nearly $250,000….amazing!
On Friday, our office had its annual summer event, which was an Urban Picnic this year. We took two boats from Edmonds to downtown Seattle; Lois’s fast boat, which took about a 45 minutes and John’s slow boat that took about 2 hours. I was on the slow boat and had to be at the office by 7:40 (and trust me, that came awfully early after a night of wine tasting!) The morning started out in typically Seattle fashion…rainy! Luckily, the girls (and Dan) got to sit inside while sipping our mimosas. By the time we arrive downtown, the sun was out…halleluiah! We spent the morning touring the new Seattle sculpture garden.
I guess Heidi and Dan did not see the “Don’t harm the art” signs that were posted everywhere!! After a little picnic in the park, we headed to the Seattle Art Museum for a little more cultural enlightenment. We then headed back to the boats.
The ride home was very entertaining! It is funny how a little alcohol can transform a conversation! John had a great idea of riding the wake of a passing cruise ship. Brad, Heidi, Melissa and myself “surfing the waves.”
It was a great day and feel very fortunate to work with such wonderful people.

What fun adventures you've had. I'm happy to see you back in "blog land" I've been checking frequently and was tiring of the Simpson's post.
